DATE:       September 19th, 2026

TIME:       9:00 a.m. to Noon

PLACE:  Valley Christian Church, 432 E. Pleasant Avenue, Tulare, CA

Directions:

Those traveling from the North should take SR 99 south, exiting at “J” Street (exit 99), drive 2.9 miles south and turn left (east) onto N. Pleasant Avenue. In .4 miles the church will be on your left (north).

Featured Presentation:

On the 250th anniversary of the United States of America, it is only appropriate that Dave Summers will be speaking about his graduate project of 50 years ago, the casting of a 1976 Bi-Centennial Bell. Dave will discuss how woodworking is used in making the casting molds, techniques in casting, the importance of using proper measuring devices, and much more. This will be an educational and enjoyable meeting not to be missed.

Show and Tell

Everyone is encouraged to bring something to Show & Tell. All those participating in Show & Tell will be eligible for a gift from the “Treasure Chest”. The Treasure Chest has been restocked with some good “stuff”!

There may be some chairs, but it would be a good idea to bring your own chair

 
Clovis Outreach Event

DATE:       September 20th, 2026

Thanks to the efforts of member David Morgan, the SJFWA will have a booth at the Clovis Glorious Junk Days event held on Sunday, September 20th.  The primary focus of the booth is to promote our Club by handing out information and possibly demonstrating some basic woodworking techniques.  We can also sell items at this booth.

Roger McCoy be assisting David in manning the booth, but we need additional members to help us cover this all-day event.  If you would be willing to help us with the booth, please contact David at 559 999-3029.  Those helping to cover the booth are also welcome to sell their woodworking related items.

OCTOBER MEETING

DATE:       October 17th, 2026

Featured Presentation:

 
This will be our 2×4 event meeting. We ask to make something out of a 2×4 x8′. Rules will be published ahead of time but basically the idea is to make something from a 2x4x8 of any type of wood but usually from a stud purchased from a big box store. This will not be a contest as in the past, a drawing will be made from the names of the participants and a gift card will be given to the lucky winner.
