2025 Bandsaw Box Class

On two Saturday mornings in May, eleven members attended a Band Saw Box Class in Roger McCoy’s shop in Fresno.  The class was taught by Roger and George Alexander.  The class primarily was a lecture and demonstration class, with students then going to their own shops to complete the steps demonstrated.

While the construction of a band saw box is pretty basic, there are several woodworking techniques involved, and attention to detail will determine how professional the final product is.  During the class, milling wood flat and square was demonstrated, band saw safety was covered, proper band saw cutting techniques were demonstrated, shaping and sanding techniques were discussed, finishing options were discussed, and options for lining the drawers were discussed.

Students enjoyed the class and it is hoped that they will use the knowledge gained in the class to further their woodworking experiences.

It was also exciting that two new members joined the SJFWA in order to take this class.
