 San Joaquin Fine Woodworkers Association

Annual Toy Program

Procedures    Federal Guidelines    Plans and Patterns    New Toy Plans

Each year, The San Joaquin Fine Woodworkers Association (SJFWA) produces hand-made toys for distribution to charitable organizations. Our goal is to provide well-made, safe, wooden toys for children’s enjoyment.

The Federal Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA) and the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) Laboratory Test Manual for Toy Testing F963-11 (ASTM 2013) provide regulations and procedures to insure the safety of children’s toys. SJFWA is registered with the CPSC as a small batch manufacturer. All toys manufactured by SJFWA are to be designed, produced, and tested according to these guidelines. Toys are manufactured from approved plans and use only approved materials and lead free finishes. Samples of new toys must be tested according to CPSIA guidelines and earn a Children’s Product Certificate (CPC).

Plans, procedures, and other documentation are available from the menu above.

Making toys can be a fun and rewarding experience. If you have questions, contact your toy coordinator.
